Pre-Congress tour to Inari

Inari is the most significant reindeer herding area in Finland, and the Sàmi people’s culture is strongly present in different parts of this municipality. On this pre-Congress tour, you will experience the fascinating nature of Northern Lapland, and learn about Sàmi history and culture.

Pre-Congress tour to Posio

Posio is often called the hidden jewel of Lapland because of its tranquility and authenticity. When you spend time in unspoiled nature away from crowds, traffic, and noise, you begin to reflect on your surroundings and find yourself both calmer and happier. On this pre-Congress tour, you will experience what it is like to live under the midnight sun. At this time of the year, the sun never sinks below the horizon.

Post-Congress tour in Southern Finland

Tour fee per participant (incl. 24% VAT): 747 €
The official post-Congress tour programme of the IAC (International Academy of Ceramics) Congress and General Assembly 2020 (2 – 5 August 2020) is organized by Johanna Wahlbeck Oy in co-operation with the Åbergin Linja bus travel company. 
The post-Congress tour programme includes visits in Helsinki to venues such as Fiskars Village, the Anu Pentik exhibition in Wäinö Aaltonen Museum, Gumbostrand Konst & Form, Vantaa Art Museum Artsi, EMMA – Espoo Museum of Modern Art, Iittala & Arabia Design Center, Ceramega 2020 Exhibition at the Voipaala Art Centre, and the Aalto University Campus. The programme also includes meetings with ceramic artists in their studios / at their exhibitions, a welcoming garden party, and an exhibition opening event and reception at the Balassi Institute in the Hungarian Cultural and Scientific Centre.
The post-Congress tour will be guided from start to finish (Sunday 2 August 2020 until Wednesday evening, 5 August 2020) by art expert Johanna Wahlbeck. She will travel with participants, providing interesting information about the venues and answering participants’ questions. Please note that the transport does not have wheelchair-accessible seats and that the language used will be English.

Please note that the tour fee does not include flights or other transport to and from Helsinki, nor accommodation during the tour. Please book independently.
